Jennifer Larson Sawin
Assistant Director of Communications
Jennifer Larson Sawin leads the planning and execution of Duke GHIC and IiH’s strategic communications efforts across sponsored programs and the team writ large.
Jennifer has 15+ years of experience in content strategy, digital engagement, brand management, editorial oversight, and stakeholder communications. She excels at translating complex ideas into clear, compelling stories that move people to think, feel, and act. Her work spans nonprofit, corporate, and startup environments, where she operates at the intersection of strategy and storytelling—helping organizations clarify priorities and deliver the right message to the right audience at the right time.
A self-described “word nerd” and proud third-culture kid, Jennifer has led content strategy, shaped brand narratives, and produced a wide range of materials—from donor communications and grants to white papers, newsletters, and thought leadership—with a consistent focus on clarity, authenticity, and impact.
Jennifer holds an M.A. in Conflict Transformation from Eastern Mennonite University and a B.A. in History from Goshen College. She has also served as Executive Director of a Boston-area restorative justice nonprofit. Outside of work, she enjoys travel, baking small-batch granola, long walks with her dog, and serving on the board of a nonprofit supporting orphaned and vulnerable (OVC) students in Botswana.
